Bible Study - Autobiography of God
Tirone writes, "We recently finished our study of many of Jesus' parables via a book by Ogilvie, entitled "Autobiography of God". Through Ogilvie's eloquent words and vivid imagery used when delving into each parable, we learnt much about God's character and God's love for us. At home cell, we split into two groups to recall what messages we had taken with us from the parables."
1. Prodigal Son: Luke 15:11-32
Jesus continued, There was a man who had 2 sons. The younger one said to his father, Father, give me my share of the estate. So he divided his property between them.
2. The Hearing Heart: Matt 13:1-23
The same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Large crowds gathered round. This parable is about the different types of soil ie. malleable / hard.
3. How to live without anxiety: Mark 4:26-29
People are responsible for sowing the kingdoms message, but only God can produce effects. It is totally Gods deed.
4. God Can Change Your Personality: Matt 13:33-35
Christ will change your personality when you surrender your life to God.
5. Taking God Seriously: Luke 7:31-35, 14:1-24
Christians should seek to discover and fulfill Gods purpose for their lives. People miss out on fellowship, Gods love and peace when they dont take God seriously.
6. God wants to give you a gift: Luke 11:1-3, 18:1-8
Be consistent in your prayer life. God hears you first time, all the time!
7. The Rich Fool: Luke 12:13-21, 16:19-31
Measure success by Gods standards, not the worlds.
Store treasures in Heaven.
8. The Unworthy Servants: Luke 17:1-10
We are indebted to God; God owes us nothing.
Gods work is a delight, not a duty!
9. The Leaven: Matt 13:33-35
God changes us from the inside to become more Christ-like.
10. The Good Samaritan: Luke 10:25-39
Love must become part of life impulsive and unrestrained
Pride and stubbornness hinder us from doing Gods work.
11. The Fig Tree: Luke 13:1-9, Mark 11:12-14, 19-22
We are commanded to be fruitful
We will be known by the fruits we bear.
12. The Talents: Matt 25:14-30
To have joy, we must give it to others
We need to use our natural and spiritual talents to glorify God and grow Gods kingdom.
It was an incredible, unforgettable journey of learning more about God.
